This is a lovely, heavy antique 18ct gold signet ring dating back to the Edwardian era. The face is 15 x 11mm and is inscribed with a cypher albeit it is somewhat worn with age. The band is fully hallmarked for 18ct gold and date marked for 1904. The ring also bears the hallmark for the Birmingham jewellers, Manton & Mole.
Manton & Mole were active in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter between the 1860s and the 1920s. Their premises at Warstone Lane are considered to be some of the best preserved purpose built Victorian antique jewellery workshops in Birmingham - the three-storey Italianate building contained offices, stores, workshops and warehouses (see image).
