This fine Antique Victorian sterling silver engraved vesta case is in perfect condition with no dents or scratches. That’s quite impressive given that it was manufactured nearly 130 years ago by Gourdel, Valés & Co. in 1892.

Gourdel Valés & Co. started business in France in 1827 under the name Constant Valès at 161, Rue St Martin, Paris. They exhibited at the French Industries Exhibition of 1839 (at which Constant Valés was awarded a silver medal for his jewellery craft), the Great Exhibition of 1851 and the International Exhibition of 1862. A London branch was established in 1857 under the style of Gourdel, Valès & Co. importing gold and silver jewellery, mostly from France and Austria. This

is a piece of history to house your keepsakes or a small book of matches. A really classic historical piece ready to be snapped up!

This piece also comes with a little bottle of vestas!

Dimensions: 40mm x 30mm x 8mm

ABOUT OUR JEWELLERY

This piece has been specifically selected by us, for you. We choose vintage and antique items which we think are beautiful, elegant and classic at a range of price points between £30 and £3,000. Generally, this means we only ever have one of each piece. We don’t select pieces which are “mass market” but rather items which are more individual. This means that once an item has been purchased, it really has gone. Each piece comes in an attractive jewellery presentation box.
