These beautiful antique Victorian Cufflinks in 15ct gold are engraved with a crest made up of a frigate ship and the motto “spe meliore vehor” which translates as the poetic phrase: “I am borne along by a better hope”. This crest and motto is attributed in Fairbairn’s Crests of the Families of Great Britain and Ireland to the Bogle family - a family name originating from Northern Ireland and Scotland. On the reverse is the monogram “R”.
These would be perfect for a gentleman with nautical interests.
