The Kutchinsky jewellery business was established in the late 19th century (in 1893) by Polish jeweller Hirsch Kutchinsky and his son Morris. Kutchinsky, like many other Eastern European Jewish immigrants established home and business in the East End of London. The Kutchinsky family business had been very successful jewellers, serving the court of Ludwig of Bavaria.
In the 1930s, the business was bolstered by Grandchildren, Joseph and Solomon and the Kutchinsky name went from strength-to-strength. The business moved from the relative humble environment of Commercial Road in the East End to the salubrious surroundings of the Brompton Road in Knightsbridge.
In the post-war period, the Kutchinsky name became synonymous with glamorous, extravagant and flamboyant jewellery, a celebration of a new era of peacetime in Europe. Birds, animals and other creatures became a signature, crafted in 18ct gold, often jewel-encrusted and always of the highest quality craftsmanship.
Today, Kutchinsky pieces continue to be highly prized and rank amongst some of the most collectible of jewellery.
ABOUT OUR JEWELLERY
This piece has been specifically selected by us, for you. We choose vintage and antique items which we think are beautiful, elegant and classic at a range of price points between £30 and £3,000.
Generally, this means we only ever have one of each piece. We don’t select pieces which are “mass market” but rather items which are more individual. This means that once an item has been purchased, it really has gone.
Each piece comes in an attractive jewellery presentation box.
